Information about Dobrina
It is a beautiful and quiet village located 50 kilometers away from Varna and the Black sea coast. It is surrounded by the hills of the Balkan mauntains. The general city near the village is Provadia- only 3 kilometers away. There is a river running few kilometers by the village. The Ovech fortress which is a part of the Bulgarian history is situated close to the village. This place and its fresh air gives you lots of tranquility and peace. Dobrina – famous as the chestnuts village,located on the Varna – Devnia –Monastery – Provadia road.In the past Dobrina was a rich settlement with interesting history. Here there are many Thracian burial mounds, ruins of Thracian and Roman settlements. During the 16th century the village of Dobrina has been the center of a big Dubrovnik colony. The unique stone church “St. Theodore” from the XVI-XVII centuries is located in the village.Another site of interest is the still active “Holy Birth of the Holy Mother” church. The village of Dobrina is also connected to the history of the British military units that took part in the Crimean War. Among the many tombs of British soldiers is the tomb of a General.The picturesque location of the village and its rich cultural and historical past make it an attractive place for recreation and tourism.
